Depression mainly involves severe mood disorder and mood swings. This mood changes and swings often and severely affect thinking and feelings towards activities and handling daily tasks. Many signs and symptoms of depression are mainly noticed after two weeks and this is when depression is diagnosed in a victim.
Many circumstances and actions can lead to depression. One of the most unique circumstances in depression is the persistent depressive disorder which lasts long for about two years. Within this time range, the symptoms of depression remain to be seen but they are not that severe. Postpartum depression is a bit and higher severe than the other forms of depression.
Postpartum depression is likely to be more severe than the depression after giving birth. Full brown depression is expected in the postpartum depression during the pregnancy and after delivering. Hallucinations are common in psychotic depression where on hears untrue sounds and sees false images. Usually, the psychotic signs come in form of themes like illnesses, delusions of poverty and guilt.
Seasonal effective disorder is also a type of depression which is commonly characterized at the start of a depression onset like during the start of a winter season. When new seasons like the summer and spring come, the depression shifts. What results in this form of depression include public withdrawal, long sleeping periods, weight gain and heavy feeding. Additionally, this form of depression is likely to return and happen every year especially when the seasons come.
Some of the signs and symptoms of depression and that are likely to happen on a day to day basis include emptiness which results as a result of sadness and anxious moods. The victim also experiences a feeling of hopelessness, guilt and also one feels helpless. Losing interest is common in depression and one barely finds pleasure from any activities. Depression also may cause fatigue, and exhaustion and the victim is also likely to have low energy to do things.
There is very poor concentration, remembering and decision making when one is suffering from depression. Oversleeping is common in depression but some victims may have difficulties while sleeping. Depression can cause appetite shifts to low and high. Suicidal thoughts may arise under the more severe conditions of depression. Depression can lead to pains, headaches which are very disturbing.
